Dear Parents of Kid Power Kids
Thank you for allowing us to teach your children this year. We greatly enjoy the opportunity to get to know them and to help them get to know God and his Holy Word better. Please read this letter carefully; it contains important changes to our Kid Power format and to our Camp Scholarship program. Coming to Kid Power and saying their verses will only earn your child half of their possible Camp Scholarship. To earn the maximum possible scholarship, they must memorize their verse every week outside of Kid Power and be ready to say it without review when they arrive at Kid Power.
We believe that memorizing God's Word is one of the most important things we can do to draw nearer to God. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” In past years, while the number of students saying their verses each week has dramatically increased, the number committing the verses to memory before class has actually decreased. While it is good for the students to read the verse in class and recite it back to us, it will remain in their hearts far longer if they actually take the time to study and memorize the verse. That is why we have instituted the new policy. Each verse is now worth two points. They get one point for saying the verse, and the second point only if they know the verse without review before class starts. We will use the total of these points to assign camp scholarships as well as for a variety of other prizes and rewards throughout the year.
